October 27, 2007 - Keeping Women Healthy Breast Cancer Screening and Awareness Day
The Alamo Breast Cancer Foundation, Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Service (BCCS), CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health Mobile Mammography, Goodwill Industries, Komen for the Cure San Antonio Affiliate and San Antonio Metropolitan Health District are sponsoring a breast cancer screening and awareness day Saturday October 27 at The Goodwill Industries, 12332 IH 10 West from 9:00am until 1:00pm. Limited low cost or free mammograms are available for those who qualify. In order to qualify a woman needs to be between the ages of 40 and 65. She also needs to be uninsured and of low income. Twenty mammograms will be available October 27 for those who pre-register and qualify. In addition there will be breast self-exam instruction, blood pressure measurements, diabetes testing, women's health information, refreshments and gifts.
At 10:00am, our honored guest Congressman Ciro Rodriguez will address participants and the general public. He will speak about legislation that impacts women's health, including his support of bills that contribute in the fight to eradicate breast cancer, and support of a bill that increases access for women in need of treatment of breast cancer. Included in the program will be invited state and city officials. The public is invited to attend all events.
