Breast Cancer Environmental
Research Act - S.983/H.R.2231
It is time to urge Representative Lamar Smith to sign on as a co-sponsor
of H.R.2231, The Breast Cancer Environmental Research Act. Our other Representatives
and Senators have already signed on.
Here is a sample letter, or feel free to write one of your
own:
It is generally believed that the environment plays
a role in the development of breast cancer, but the extent
of that role is not understood. I urge you to sign on
as a co-sponsor of the Breast Cancer Environmental Research
Act (H.R.2231) allowing for grants for multi-institutional,
multi-disciplinary research centers to study the potential
links between the environment and breast cancer. With
over 200,000 women being diagnosed and over 46,000 women
dying in the United States a year, every effort to find
the causes of breast cancer must be explored.
Please call
Jean Doyle with Representative Lowey at (202) 225-6506
or Sarah Hale with Representative Myrick at (202) 225-1976
to co-sponsor and help enact this legislation.
Sincerely,
Name Address State & Zip Phone Email

DOD Peer-Reviewed Breast Cancer
Research Program
This year, NBCC asks that you urge your Representatives
and Senators to sign on to a letter supporting $150 million
for the BCRP in the FY 2005 DOD appropriations. BCRP funding
is at a critical stage. NBCC urges the Administration and
Congress to ensure that this program continues so that new
research can be done to learn how to prevent, and to find
a cure for breast cancer, which will strike nearly 215,000
women this year and kill more than 40,000.
The alert is as follows:
Please show your support for eradicating breast cancer
by signing onto the letter calling for $150 million for
the DOD Peer-Reviewed Breast Cancer Research Program.
If you can, please add a personal message. Provide your
name, address, phone, and e-mail. If your Senator needs
to know who to contact give them the following information:
- Emily Jarvis or Carolyn Holmes in the office of Senator
Snowe at 202-224-5344,
- Daniel Ginsberg in the office of Senator Leahy at
202-224-4242,
- Vicki Siegel in the office of Senator Harkin at 202-224-3254,
- Priscilla Hanley in the office of Senator Collins
at 202-224-2523.
